It is a no-frills box with no compromise in quality of materials or workmanship. We do not make an unfinished box or one that does not have all scrubbable parts, as such boxes are a haven for potentially fatal microbes. All of our boxes have hinged and latched doors. Doors and walls are 3/4" thick and covered in white melamine on all sides and edges and sealed to keep moisture out. Little Heartbeats Whelping Boxes are often imitated, but never duplicated. The Cassie Box is available in many sizes, and the walls can be 12, 16, or 24 inches high. While this model does not have any kind of top, it will take a matching extension kit later if the puppies need more room as they grow. The uprights and rails are all wood, each piece is finished individually on all sides. They are routed, sanded, primed, sanded, painted with high quality semi-gloss non-toxic paint, sanded again, and coated again. These trim parts are available in any color or colors that we stock at no extra charge. No tools are needed to install or remove included safety rails. There are no support legs to block the puppies' path of travel and no holes left in the walls when the rails are removed.
